April 26 marks the 38th anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident.

It is the largest catastrophe in the history of nuclear energy. Since then, every year on this day, people in Ukraine and around the world commemorate all those who perished or suffered from this disaster, and honor the liquidators of its consequences.

We invite all concerned individuals to join us today at 5:00 PM for our evening of remembrance for the tragedy of the Chernobyl disaster.

The speaker of the evening will be Alan Van Klooster – a Belgian who exemplifies the unity of the Belgian and Ukrainian peoples. Alan once visited Pripyat and collected the stories of people who would later become lines on paper in his book. A exhibition of poems and drawings from Alan’s book will be available at the community center.

Це найбільша в історії катастрофа в ядерній енергетиці. З того часу в цей день в Україні та світі щороку вшановують усіх людей, хто загинув чи постраждав від цієї катастрофи, а також шанують ліквідаторів наслідків аварії.

Спікер вечора Алан Ванклостер – бельгієць, який своїм прикладом показує єдність бельгійського та українського народу.

Алан колись відвідав Припʼять, та зібрав історії людей, які пізніше стануть рядками на папері в його книзі. В ком’юніті центрі буде доступна виставка віршів та замальовок з книги Алана.

Le 26 avril marque le 38e anniversaire de l’accident de la centrale nucléaire de Tchernobyl.

C’est la plus grande catastrophe de l’histoire de l’énergie nucléaire. Depuis cette date, en Ukraine et dans le monde entier, nous rendons hommage chaque année à toutes les personnes qui ont perdu la vie ou ont été blessées lors de cette catastrophe, ainsi qu’aux liquidateurs des conséquences de l’accident.

Nous invitons tous ceux qui se sentent concernés à se joindre à nous aujourd’hui à 17h00 pour notre soirée commémorative de la tragédie de Tchernobyl.

Le conférencier de la soirée sera Alan Vankloster, un Belge qui illustre par son exemple l’unité entre le peuple belge et ukrainien.

Alan a autrefois visité Pripyat et a recueilli les histoires des personnes qui deviendront plus tard des lignes sur les pages de son livre. Une exposition de poèmes et d’illustrations tirés du livre d’Alan sera disponible au centre communautaire.
