SOCIAL HEALTH ORIENTATION CENTER – SHO-C

The Social Health Orientation Center (SHOC) project, supported by the government of the Brussels-Capital Region, operates in four coordinated areas: orientation service, one-stop medical service, social protection office, and support service from mobile teams for Ukrainian refugees (BPTU) in the Brussels-Capital Region.

SHOC provides support and coordinates activities in various areas, including:

  • Finding and assigning a family doctor based on the address of residence.
  • Making appointments with specialists
  • Support and guidance from mobile teams in translations, social protection, and mental health.
  • Access to useful information on medical and psychological assistance available in the Brussels-Capital region
  • Providing detailed information to ensure integration into the Belgian healthcare system.
  • Facilitating access to social assistance
  • Legal and family counseling
  • Protection of victims of family and sexual violence
  • First health check-up
  • Medical consultation by a general practitioner in crisis situations

UV-RC operations focus on directly and indirectly strengthening Ukrainian community structures, reinforcing the global public health status of the refugee population, their Belgian hosts, and neighbors. The vision is to expand SHO services to non-Ukrainian refugee populations in the future, leveraging UV memberships in the Umbrella Refugee Committee.
